Consistently Resist the Devil

Receiving healing is often only the beginning. Once breakthrough comes, the next step is learning how to keep it. Scripture teaches that the enemy comes immediately to steal the Word. Because of that, believers should not be surprised when opposition shows up after victory.

This is why we are instructed to fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of what God has already provided. Healing, freedom, and deliverance belong to us through our covenant with God, but we must be willing to stand firm when challenges arise.

Jesus made it clear that sickness is not from God. Acts 10:38 tells us that He healed those who were oppressed by the devil. If sickness is oppression, then resisting it is not rebellion against God. It is agreement with Him.

Scripture gives us a pattern for standing strong. First, walk in love. Faith works by love, and an effective faith life begins there.

Second, cast every care on the Lord. Humility trusts God enough to hand Him both major burdens and everyday concerns.

Third, stay alert. We are instructed to be sober, vigilant, and steadfast in faith.

Continuing in the Word is also essential. Jesus said that truth makes us free, but that freedom comes as we continue in His Word. The Bible is more than a collection of promises. It is our covenant. It tells us what belongs to us and provides the authority we need when resisting the enemy.

Standing is active, not passive. Ephesians 6 tells us to put on the whole armor of God. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word all work together to help us stand our ground and move forward in victory.

The encouragement this week is simple. Stay in the Word daily. Walk in love. Cast your cares on the Lord. Resist the devil immediately and stand on your covenant rights. Receiving breakthrough is important, but learning to stand and keep it is part of living victoriously by faith.
