Faith was never designed to be something we only use when life becomes difficult. God’s plan is for every believer to live by faith every day. Faith is not an emergency response. It is a lifestyle. Scripture tells us that the just shall live by faith.
That means our faith cannot depend on someone else’s relationship with God.
We cannot live on our pastor’s faith, our parents’ faith, or someone else’s faith. God desires each of us to develop our own faith through His Word and learn how to stand on His promises personally. Faith works in every area of life. It is designed for our homes, our workplaces, our schools, and our everyday decisions.
The wise person builds their life on God’s Word before the storm arrives.
When challenges come, we are not trying to build a foundation in the middle of the storm. We are standing on a foundation that was already established.
The way faith grows is simple.
Faith comes by continually hearing the Word of God. We develop faith by reading the Word, hearing the Word, meditating on the Word, and applying it to our daily lives.
As we consistently feed on Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us how to respond according to God’s truth instead of simply reacting to circumstances.
One practical way to build your faith is to always have a Scripture you are standing on. Start your day by declaring God’s Word over your life.
As you continue spending time in Scripture, the Holy Spirit will reveal the specific truth you need for each situation.
The written Word is our foundation, and the Holy Spirit brings that Word alive for the circumstances we face. Faith is also released through words.
Jesus taught us to believe in our hearts and speak with our mouths. When we consistently speak God’s promises, His Word becomes established in our hearts and our faith begins producing results.
There are two keys to strong faith: continuing to hear the Word and walking in love.
Just as our physical bodies require daily nourishment, our faith requires continual feeding. And because faith works by love, our love walk determines how effectively faith operates in our lives.
Love creates the environment where faith functions the way God intended.
The encouragement this week is simple. Build your faith every day. Stay in the Word.
Speak God’s promises. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Walk in love. Faith is not something we save for difficult moments.
It is the way God designed us to live.
