Forgiveness and Health

Receiving from God is only part of the journey. Whether it is healing, restoration, or breakthrough, we are called to keep what God has provided. One of the greatest keys to doing that is maintaining a heart that is free from offense.

Jesus connected faith and forgiveness in Mark 11. He taught us to speak to the mountain, believe in our hearts, and receive what we pray for. Then, without changing the subject, He said, "When you stand praying, forgive." Forgiveness is not separate from faith. It is one of the things that keeps faith working.

Forgiveness is a decision of the will. It is not dependent on our emotions. We can choose to forgive even while our feelings are still catching up. That choice keeps our heart open to God and prevents offense from taking root.

Forgiveness also requires wisdom. Choosing to forgive does not mean pretending nothing happened or allowing someone to continue causing harm. Love is not naïve. Godly wisdom uses healthy boundaries, accountability, and discernment. Forgiveness, trust, and access are not the same thing.

Scripture tells us that faith works by love. Love is what makes faith active, effective, and productive. Without love, even great faith becomes weakened.

The same principle applies to seedtime and harvest. Just as generous giving produces a harvest, unforgiveness also plants a seed that produces unwanted fruit. That is why it is so important to deal with offense quickly.

Walking in love begins with renewing our minds. The Holy Spirit will often reveal attitudes of resentment, anger, or impatience that we may not have noticed.

As we allow Him to change our thinking, we begin to respond differently. Instead of assuming the worst about people, we give room for grace and remember that others may be carrying burdens we cannot see.

This truth is especially important in our closest relationships. Whether in marriage, family, or friendships, restoration requires more than simply pointing out someone else's faults. The Word invites each of us to examine our own heart, walk in forgiveness, and deliberately apply what God has taught us.

The encouragement this week is simple. Keep your heart free from offense. Choose forgiveness quickly. Walk in love with wisdom. As you do, your faith remains strong, your heart stays open to God, and you are positioned to receive everything He has prepared for you.
