God’s Word teaches us that what surrounds us matters. The people we spend time with influence our thoughts, our words, our beliefs, and ultimately our character. That is why Scripture tells us to be intentional about the company we keep, especially when we are standing for healing, breakthrough, or the promises of God.

First Corinthians tells us that bad company corrupts good character. This does not mean we avoid everyone who does not believe exactly as we do. Jesus ministered to people from all walks of life. But He also had close fellowship with His disciples. There is a difference between reaching people and allowing voices that contradict God’s Word to become our strongest influence.

During seasons where our faith is being challenged, we must guard our hearts. Proverbs teaches us to attend to God’s Word, keep it before our eyes, and keep it in our hearts because His Word produces life and health. What we allow into our heart through our conversations, what we watch, and what we listen to matters.

When symptoms or challenges try to return, it is important to protect our faith. Sometimes that means limiting negative influences for a season. This is not about isolation. It is about making sure we are surrounded by voices that strengthen our faith while we continue standing on God’s promises.

We see this in Acts when Peter and John returned to their own company after persecution. They went to people who understood the assignment, prayed in agreement, and encouraged their faith. The right people do not ignore reality, but they help bring our focus back to God’s Word.

Not everyone needs access to every battle we are facing. Wisdom helps us recognize who should speak into our lives. Even well-meaning believers can sometimes speak fear, agree with symptoms, or unintentionally pull us away from the truth of God’s promises.

God designed agreement to multiply spiritual strength. Scripture says one can put a thousand to flight, and two can put ten thousand to flight. Jesus also said where two or three gather in His name, He is there. Our conversations are constantly creating agreement, so we should make sure our agreement is with God’s Word.

The encouragement this week is simple. Guard your heart by guarding your company. Stay connected to people who pray with you, encourage your faith, correct you in love, and help you remain established in the covenant. The right relationships do not replace your faith, but they help strengthen it.
