Scripture is clear that the times we live in can be challenging, even described as perilous or catastrophic. But this week on Covenant Living, we’re reminded of an important truth: God never intended His people to live in fear or uncertainty. Victory, protection, and peace are part of the salvation Jesus provided, and we must learn to walk in those promises on purpose. Nothing in the Word works automatically. Faith must be applied intentionally.
Jesus made God’s will unmistakably clear. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life—abundant, full, and overflowing (John 10:10). God’s desire is not only eternal life, but a long life marked by peace, strength, and quality living here on earth. Through precise knowledge of God and His promises, we are empowered to escape destruction and partake in God’s nature (2 Peter 1:1–4). These promises are meant to be lived, not just known.
God’s Word consistently ties obedience and trust to protection and longevity. Proverbs tells us that keeping God’s commands produces length of days, peace, and tranquility. A life worth living includes safety and time to fulfill God’s purpose. That’s why we must believe for divine protection, not as an afterthought, but as part of everyday faith.
A powerful family testimony illustrates this truth. While we were out of state, a severe storm approached our home where our children were alone. Rather than stepping in ourselves, we followed the Lord’s prompting to allow our son to act on what he had been taught. In faith, he spoke to the storm in Jesus’ name and then calmly returned to what he was doing. The storm split and passed around our home. Faith works when it is taught, believed, and applied—regardless of age.
These principles are available to anyone willing to put them into practice. God’s goal for His people is peace, safety, and a long life lived in victory. Even in uncertain times, we are not helpless or unprotected. When faith is lived daily and God’s Word is taken seriously, victory becomes a way of life.
As part of covenant living, Scripture also reminds us of the importance of partnership. Supporting the work of the gospel through cheerful, purposeful giving allows God’s Word to continue reaching lives around the world. Just as believers supported Jesus’ ministry in Scripture, partnership today plays a vital role in helping others learn to live in the victory God has already been given.
