The True Source of Sickness

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to hold onto healing is confusion about the source of sickness and the will of God. Faith cannot remain strong where doubt and uncertainty exist. If we are questioning whether God wants us well, it becomes difficult to stand confidently on His promises.

Many believers have heard ideas like, “God put this sickness on you,” or “God is teaching you through disease.” But these ideas do not match the ministry of Jesus. Scripture says Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power and went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil. Sickness is identified as oppression, not blessing.

Jesus gave us a clear dividing line. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came to bring life and life more abundantly. If something steals, destroys, or brings suffering, it does not come from God. If it brings healing, peace, restoration, and wholeness, it reflects His nature and His will.

Salvation includes far more than eternity in heaven. Through Jesus, we were redeemed from the curse of the law, which includes sickness, disease, and destruction. Healing, protection, provision, and victory are all part of the covenant rights that belong to us in Christ.

Throughout Scripture, we consistently see God’s desire to bless His people. Abraham was blessed. Job was restored. God prepared what Ephesians calls a “good life” for His people to walk in. While God can bring good out of difficult situations, He is not the author of evil itself.

This matters because wrong thinking creates question marks. And wherever doubt is allowed to remain, faith weakens. Thoughts like, “Maybe God wants me sick,” open the door for the enemy to steal what God already provided.

The issue that must become settled is simple. God’s will is healing, life, protection, and wholeness. Satan’s work is stealing, killing, and destroying. Once that line becomes clear, faith becomes stronger and more consistent.

The encouragement this week is simple. Settle God’s goodness in your heart. Stop questioning His willingness to heal and restore. When the truth of His covenant becomes firmly established, faith remains steady and healing becomes much easier to keep.
